Creative Critical Reflection

Below is a powerpoint slideshow of my Creative Critical Reflection

Project Blog

The music video has been completed! Many hours of filming, planning, and editing were poured into this, and I am proud to say the final product is finally finished. I believe the music video came out rather nicely and the collaboration of all of the team members made it a great project. The filming process was fun, as it involved my team and I going to the fair. This resulted in a mood of the music video being very lighthearted and fun. The music video tells a story of a group of friends having fun at the fair. The song of choice, "Good Days", matches this because, well, the friends are having a good time at the fair. Across the music video, many activities are portrayed, such as the fair games, waiting in line, walking around, etc. These activities emphasize the diversity of the time spent with friends. As the editor of this project and an actor, I can gladly say this music video has come out with as much creative expression as my team and I desired!

Editing: Production is Finished

After the editing session of two days ago, the project's production hit an unexpected level of difficulty. The rest of the film was added to the video, but then it was too long. The predicted solution to this problem was to decide which scenes were key to the music video, and which ones were not needed. This worked at cutting the time down, but not enough. So, some scenes needed to be cut from the video that were in the storyboard. While doing this, I had made sure not to cut any scenes that were crucial to the story. If these scenes were cut, it may affect the story and ruin the chronological sense of the story. So, the tracking shots of the group of friends walking or the friends waiting should take up as little screen time as possible. Towards the end of the production process, it was a decision that had to be frequently made, "should this scene be kept, or thrown away?" This took time and effort, as well as more collaboration with my team. My team had given me input

Editing

After filming every part of the music video, all that was left to do was edit the scenes in place. As with the commercial project, the music video will also be edited with iMovie. I find this software to be the most user friendly, as it allows the use to drag clips and drop them in the video wherever the editor sees fit. It is designed for people who have not edited before, and so it is a perfect choice for someone who has very little experience editing like me. I am the designated editor of my group meaning that most of the responsibilities fall on me for the final product. As such, I am making sure to constantly keep in touch with my team, asking for their input. I began my editing today, and the first order of business was the song. I had downloaded the song "Good Days" to my computer, and this file was used for the song in the editing process. After that, all my scenes from the filming process had been transported onto the editing software, and certain additional scenes

Filming Plan B

From the last update blog, the filming process was discussed. Unfortunately, time ran out on our first day filming. The solution to this problem was to film for another day, although it would mean a change to the plans. So, today we followed through with out second day of filming. The plan was to finish the shots we didn't accomplish yesterday, and the only problem with this was that we would need to convey the illusion of it being the same day, and my team needed to wear the same clothes and be at the fair at the same time as the previous filming session. After establishing this, we were set for the second day of filming. Many ideas were brought to the table by my team, such as capturing a shot with the group of friends waiting in line. In the process of filming this, it had to be kept in mind that the theme of the video is "Good Days", so the emotions displayed by us as actors had to be happy and carefree. This resulted in the shots having a lighter tone to them. As we

Filming at the fair

Today was the group's first day filming. The setting was a fair, and this brought up a few difficulties. These difficulties will be addressed later. When we started filming, we quickly realized that the shots to be taken outside of the fair would be filmed easier, as there were less people. I had made the suggestion of adding in a scene, a practice that would be replicated throughout the production process. As we were in the parking lot of the fair, I had suggested that there should be a scene of the group of friends, which included three actors, looking out into the distance at the sight of the fair. What made this scene spark my interest was the bright lights of the fair shedding light onto the parking lot. After taking this shot, I was made aware that filming in this scene may take longer than expected, as it took my team a few tries to acquire this new added scene. This would not be an issue, with time on our side, we had some wiggle room in the planning of the production proc
