Thriller ❤ liked on Polyvore featuring backgrounds, words, phrase, quotes, saying and text | Thriller, Words, Phrase

After much consideration and brainstorming, I have decided on thriller as my opening sequence genre. With my pitch, the project could have gone in a number of directions. For example, the loud noise heard outside could be a car crash, and it inspires the main character to become a life-saving paramedic. Or, it could be a monster that is out for blood. With this much freedom, my pitch had to be carefully considered when choosing genres. While freedom definitely did not make my choice easier, it had made me do something else. It forced me to think about the project in depth. Considering a genre, I would brainstorm how my specific pitch would work, and how the opening sequence could be created. It is important to note that during this process, I had realized that pursuing the genre I have the most interest in is the best idea, and here's why. The process of creating an opening sequence will take loads of work, however with the right motivation to create a product that I am legitimately interested in, it will then make the production process easier. In order to choose what genre I wanted, I first looked at some of my favorite films and why they interested me. I then connected those to my pitch, and I clearly found my answer. While I like action movies, it would not make much sense to create an opening sequence based on just a man losing his job. For an action movie, the premise would likely have to be more "villain" centered. A romantic movie would be a good pursuit, however it is missing one key component. The opening sequence would not fit the theme for a romance. Without the inclusion of another character, there would be nothing for the audience to follow that tells them that "this is a romance movie." However, thriller would be the perfect option due to its ambiguity. The uneasiness of a loud noise, the depressing setting of the premise, and a scared main character would all fit perfectly into this genre.
